The Quark Council, which has worked on the issue of a new ferry between Umeå - Vasa, among other things, now wants to invest in electric powered aircraft as a complement to regular air traffic. The Council has submitted the feasibility study to develop the project idea.
- The current estimated radius of action and function of Elflygens fits well into our geographically elongated region and could drastically reduce travel times between the region's nodes, says Joakim Strand, MP in Finland and the chairman of the Kvarken Council in a press release.
The relatively short distances between the cities in the Quarken region mean that the area would be well suited given the current range of electric flights.
- For once, the distances between the nodes in the Kvarken region are absolutely perfect, says Joakim Strand.
The Kvarken Council hopes that the region can serve as a test bed for the electric flight as early as next year.
