This is a bad poll for Donald Trump. According to a study commissioned by The Washington Post and ABC and published Tuesday, September 10, the popularity of the US president has dropped by 6%, all political orientations combined. It goes from 44% to 38%. And it is the growing concern of Americans about the economic outlook that would be involved.

This is one of the key arguments of Donald Trump's campaign for the 2020 presidential election: the good economic health of the United States.

In a video tweet last weekend, the US president welcomed the good employment figures. Fewer African Americans and Hispanics unemployed. The figures are even, he argues, the lowest in US history. " We have never been in a better position, " insists the president.

Yet, while 56% of Americans still rate the state of the economy as " good, " or " excellent, " this figure is down sharply : 10 points in a year, according to the Washington Post- ABC survey .

Voters seem particularly concerned about the impact on their purchasing power of the trade war against China. They are 56% to disapprove.

Despite reassuring messages from the Treasury Secretary, more than half of Americans also believe that a recession is " very " or " rather likely " in the coming year. This risk has increased because of Donald Trump's trade and economic policies for 43% of respondents.
