Today the EU's new "government" is appointed

Last summer, EU countries agreed to nominate German Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission. On Tuesday, the rest of the Commission, usually called the EU Government, will be presented.

Sweden is represented by Labor Minister Ylva Johanson (S).

- It is evenly distributed between the sexes for the first time, there are 13 women and 14 men on the list, says SVT's European correspondent Christoffer Wendick.

He says that right now there is a lot of rumor spreading about which countries should get the heavy portfolios, such as trade. A rumor spread by lobbyists.

The leaks that Christoffer Wendick has noticed indicate that Ylva Johansson gets the job as labor market and employment commissioner, which would mean, among other things, that she has to deal with the EU's attempts to get a minimum wage.

Which countries will receive the heaviest items?

- According to ex-speculation and rumors, the agricultural portfolio will go to Poland. Today we will see if it is true or if it is a scam but there is much evidence that it is true. Italy has said that they have been promised a portfolio dealing with industrial issues, which is also a heavy item.

Can we expect some major surprises?

- There is no person appointed as Commissioner for Migration, which has been a huge issue for the EU for the last five years. There is a name that stands on humanitarian aid and according to the list I have seen it would be Hungary. I think that would make one and the other raise their eyebrows.

The names presented today are nominations. On October 1, the European Parliament will vote on the new EU Commission.
