The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested three people on 6 September for allegedly kidnapping and torturing a man in Amposta (Tarragona) for more than 30 hours .

Those arrested, men of 24, 33 and 36, knew the victim and her family, since they lived in India in nearby towns, and kidnapped her to claim a debt she had contracted with one of them, explained the Mossos in a statement.

The man to whom he owed the debt was the one who devised the kidnapping, and on September 4, with the pretext of solving the problems they had, he proposed to the victim to go to his home and there, together with three other men, tied her , beat, vexed and insulted.

The kidnapped was subjected to continuous harassment and aggression for 30 hours, actions that the kidnappers recorded with the mobile and sent to the relatives with the aim of pressuring them to pay them 10,000 euros for the rescue.

They asked his family for the money before September 9, and warned that if they didn't pay, they would kill him , showing with the images that they had him withheld.

The Mossos learned about the event because they received a telephone complaint from a man from India , who said they had kidnapped his brother-in-law in Amposta.

Rescue Payment

The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos initiated an investigation to locate the victim and advise the relatives, and as a result of the police proceedings a part of the kidnappers was identified and it was determined that the kidnapped could be held in Amposta at the address of one of the kidnappers.

On September 5, the investigators had already identified the perpetrators of the kidnapping and the place of custody, but the victim's family made a partial payment of the ransom, and the kidnappers decided to release the man at 9:00 p.m.

Shortly thereafter, the Mossos arrested three of the four kidnappers in Amposta, and at 6 am they entered and searched the address where the victim had been held.

At home they found various objects of the kidnapped and elements that accredited the participation of those arrested in the kidnapping and assaults.

The three detainees went to court on Sunday, September 8, and the judge decreed admission to prison for two of them , and freedom with charges for the third, while the investigation continues open and no further arrests are ruled out.
