The private sector registered 45,800 net job creations in the second quarter of 2019, an increase of 0.2%, after + 0.4% in the previous quarter, according to INSEE's final estimate published on Tuesday.

The National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies has revised down its provisional estimate of 9 August, which was 62,100 creations.

These creations are twice as low as those of the first quarter, particularly high with 100,400 jobs created.

However, over one year, private employment rose by 251,200 (+ 1.1%).

"What matters is the trend over the long term. For two years we have created half a million jobs," responded the Minister of Labor Muriel Penicaud on RTL. "We are in a dynamic job creation and we still have it under foot because one company out of two says she can not recruit," she added.

Employment also rose slightly in the civil service (+10,500 after +2,200). Over a year, it increases by 18,700.

In total, salaried employment accounts for 19.6 million jobs and has been growing steadily since the second quarter of 2015.

By sector, it stabilizes in the industry (+1,400 after +7,900 the previous quarter). Over one year, it rose by 0.6%.

Job creations in construction slow down: +6,400 after +17,400. Over one year, the increase reached 2.9%.

Payroll employment increased slightly less, by 33,900 in market services, ie + 0.3%, after + 0.6% the previous quarter.

Temporary employment decreases slightly:? 0.2% after + 1.3%. Over one year, temporary work remains down (0.7%).

Salaried employment in mainly non-market services is growing moderately: +12,500, after +1,600. This slight acceleration comes mainly from the public service.
