If the government between the anti-establishment party Five Star Movement (M5S), the Social Democratic Party (PD) and the Left Party Free and Equal (LeU) loses the vote, they must resign, writes The Guardian.

In yesterday's vote of confidence, the result was 343 against 263 votes. Before the members cast their votes, a presentation and intense debate were held.

Promises more respect

The partyless Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte went through 29 points in his new program, promising, among other things, that the new coalition government should be more respectful in politics, and that they should lower taxes in indebted Italy, writes TT.

Conte also said he wants to improve the relationship between Italy and the EU, which was damaged during the last coalition with the M5S and right-wing populist Lega. Lega's party leader Matteo Salvini says that from now on they will be "a serious opposition, in Parliament but also among the people", according to TT.
