The acting Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has promised on Tuesday the annexation of the Jordan Valley , in the occupied West Bank , if he is re-elected in next week’s elections.
"One place to which (Israeli) sovereignty can be applied immediately after the elections is the Jordan Valley," said Netanyahu at a press conference organized by his party, right-wing Likud , where he had anticipated that a "shocking announcement" would be made.
The head of the Israeli Government has assured that the peace plan with the Palestinians that the United States prepares will be presented days after the elections and has asked the Israeli electorate for its support in leading negotiations in which it will seek to annex Jewish settlements of the occupied West Bank.
Palestine: "Destroy any possibility of peace"
A senior Palestinian official has responded to the promise of the Israeli Prime Minister: "It is not only destroying the two states' solution, but destroying any possibility of peace," Hanan Ashraui , senior Palestinian official, warned the Afp agency. "This changes everything," he added.
