Euro-2020 Qualifiers: England dismounts Kosovo

Southampton (United Kingdom) (AFP)

Four matches, four wins and 19 goals scored, England is still in Group A qualifications for the Euro-2020, after easily overcoming Kosovo (5-3), yet undefeated for 15 games, Tuesday in Southampton.

With 12 points, three ahead of the Czechs, winners in Montenegro (3-0), and four on his opponent of the evening - these last two teams counting a match in addition - the homes of Gareth Southgate have taken a nice option on the qualification.

This rebounding match and a little disconnected confirmed what we already knew: the British offensive power around the tandem Raheem Sterling / Harry Kane is impressive. But the defense still has its empty passages.

Without a goal-scoring Sterling and three assists on the first act, England would not have reached the break with a comfortable advantage (5-1) after foolishly conceding the opener after less than a minute of play on a bad pass from their central defender Michael Keane, operated by Valon Berisha (0-1, 1st).

Six minutes later, Keane caught up by deflecting a corner to Raheem Sterling on the lookout near the six meters for the equalizer (1-1, 8th).

Number 7 then took advantage of the space all too often left by opponents unable to keep pace to give Kane a goal ((2-1, 19th) and two to Jadon Sancho (4-1, 44th and 5-1, 45+ 1), the first two achievements of the Dortmund player with the Three Lions.

Meanwhile, the Kosovars had kindly returned the favor to the English by also offering a goal to their opponent, the lateral Mergim Vojvoda pushing into the goal a tense center of Sancho (3-1, 38th).

But Kosovo has shown that its series of invincibility owed nothing to chance by not falling apart despite the very unfavorable scenario.

He even managed to pick up a bit thanks to a very nice goal on which Berisha was cold-blooded to afford a double (49th), and a penalty a little silly conceded by the defender who was worth 93 million euros , Harry Maguire, and transformed by Vedat Muriqi (55th).

Two goals perfectly avoidable but that will perhaps be "fun" to Southgate which will probably find there to spur players whose opposition in the group is decidedly weak.
