LONDON (Reuters) - Veteran Frenchman Arsene Wenger has sharply criticized Liverpool's top scorer Mohamed Salah, but at the same time compared his abilities to those of Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

"There are similarities between Salah and Messi," said Wenger. "But he has to find the secret of the Argentine star's continuity. Salah is a good scorer, but Messi is an integral player. He is a top scorer and goal maker."

"This could be solved when he gets older," he said in an interview with BN Sports. "He will learn when to pass and when to score."

"He is very impressed with Salah. He has great potential just like Mani," he concluded.

Sadio Mane was in a tantrum when he was substituted in Saturday's 3-0 Premier League win over Burnley.

Mani, who helped Liverpool win the 37th minute, was clearly outraged when he was substituted two minutes after he did not get a pass from Salah in the penalty area.

Salah chose the individual solution instead of passing to his unattended Senegalese teammate, and Mani was clearly outraged.
