Because with its four Facebook pages, its own hashtag on Instagram and tens of thousands of likes and check-ins, the oak has become a landmark. Well known to many, not least to travelers north of Uppsala.

Jennifer Lovén is one of the few who lives in close proximity to the desolate oak - and although she herself has not checked in with it, she has an understanding of others' affection and interest.

- It's really fun that people pay attention to it. It has always been there and been a part of my everyday view, so making others think it is nice is just fun. Can imagine that many people find it fun to send pictures or mark their journey in some way with something concrete. "Now I'm me oak, only 15 minutes left until I'm home," or similar, says Jennifer Lovén.

"Everyone talks about it"

On her way to her Thai flight on Arlanda from her hometown of Sandviken, Helena Fröhler made sure to check in at the oak. And it wasn't her first time either.

- Everyone talks about it. Earlier, they checked into Terminal 5 in social media, but today it has become so that everyone I know does it by the tree on the way to Arlanda. But it's not just those who are going abroad. Often in my flow, I can also see people checking in on Monday on their way to work and then on Friday when the week is over. When you see the oak in its flow you know that person is going somewhere. It's like a fun thing, ”says Helena Fröhler.

Retained for aesthetics

During E4's draw on the route between the years 2002 and 2007, the Swedish Transport Administration chose to keep the oak for aesthetic reasons. Something that is an exception when it comes to major road projects like this. It is liked by Jennifer Lovén who also thinks that a cement suction could not have become an equally viral travel brand.

- Freeways, concrete and asphalt. It's not alive. Then it is good to have an old oak which symbolizes safety in times when everything is changing. Moreover, it is very boring on that particular stretch. Nature needs everyone. Trees are alive. I see that as something nice anyway, says Jennifer Lovén.
