09 September 2019A priest was suspended from pastoral duties after he was taken ill in June for having taken drugs, while he was on a trip to Cremona with some students from the Ollandini state secondary school in Alassio (Savona), where he was doing a substitute for a couple of weeks. The priest now follows a therapeutic and rehabilitative program. "The matter was dealt with in a timely manner. There were no injuries or injuries to third parties, especially to minors - the bishop of Albenga-Imperia GiacomoBorghetti explained to ANSA -. The subject was taken up by me, we talked and of course we agreed a therapeutic and recovery plan and I must say that it is very collaborative ".

The protagonist of the story was a priest from Alassio. He was rescued after the illness, ending up in the hospital, just by the students he was accompanying on a trip. The case remained reserved until today, when the 'scandal' began to circulate and the bishop himself was consulted to clarify how the facts went. Monsignor Borghetti confirmed that, however, the priest was temporarily suspended from pastoral duties. "We have agreed on a therapeutic and recovery plan - he reiterated -. I was amazed, that such news only comes out now". As for the event itself, the bishop prefers to talk about illness resulting in the use of drugs, rather than overdoses. "The term overdose has a very specific clinical significance - Borghetti underlines - in any case. That of illness is the version closest to the truth". If the priest will eventually be permanently suspended from his pastoral mandate "will depend on the outcome of this path of recovery - the bishop explained -.
