- The company neither entertained nor serviced the drone when it failed. In the end, it broke down, and then the company went bankrupt, says Johan Edvall, planning manager at Motala's Rescue Service.

So over a year ago, the broken drone was taken out of service. But now they have just bought a new one.

- I ordered a new one this week. The heat seeking camera is of great help when looking for a person in water. Or, as a rescue leader, get an overview picture. If I am to run around a burning industry it may be two kilometers around, but if I then get a few extra eyes, I immediately see where I should put the resources, says Johan Edvall.

RTÖG plans to buy drones

While the Rescue Service in Motala buys a new drone, the Rescue Service Östra Götaland can soon buy its first. The hope is that it will happen next year.

- Yes, we have been waiting for some time, but now we feel ready to take the step into that technology, says Michael Wahlqvist, head of full-time firefighters at RTÖG.
