09 September 2019The suspension of the British Parliament will begin at the end of the debates this evening. This was announced by a spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson, stating that the measure will start regardless of the outcome of the vote in the hall on the government's proposal to hold early elections in October. The suspension will last, as previously announced, until October 14th. Brexit is currently scheduled for 31 October and a European Council is scheduled for 17 and 18 October.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was convinced that a Brexit agreement can still be reached by October 31 (the date by which the UK will have to leave the EU). At a press conference in Dublin with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, according to BBC reports, Johnson said he believes it is still possible to reach an agreement at the EU summit on 18 October and has ruled out asking Brussels to delay the deadline of October 31st.
