Atef Daghlas-Nablus

"Enough we lost Bassam, we do not want to lose the rest of the prisoners, especially the sick," said the released prisoner Mona Al-Sayeh and the wife of the martyr prisoner Bassam Al-Sayeh and her message to the Palestinian street and leadership in her comment on the death of her husband on Sunday evening at Asaf Harofiya Hospital inside the Occupation State.

Sayeh said this while receiving mourners at her home in the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank, adding that the role is coming to other prisoners such as Mu'tasim Raddad and Sami Abu Diak, who suffer from various types of cancer, and described their condition as very serious.

Sayeh's words were largely in line with the cries of the angry Palestinian masses that came out in the cities of Nablus and Ramallah to protest the policy of medical negligence practiced by the occupation against prisoners, which led to the martyrdom of more than 221 prisoners, and demanded Sayeh to release the body of her husband to be buried in his land and among his family.

At the Al-Shuhada Roundabout in the center of the city, hundreds of citizens, including national and Islamic leaders, protested on Monday afternoon and chanted a victory for the martyr Sayeh and addressed angry and direct messages to the Israeli occupation to stop his "crimes" against the prisoners, especially the sick, and called for responding to his violations by escalating the movement in the street.

Messages of protesters
The demonstrators, who carried the Palestinian flag and banners that denounced the crimes of the occupation, also sent clear and clear messages to the Palestinian leadership and its factions of all kinds, which they accused of negligence and "inaction" towards the file of prisoners at the local and international levels, and called on them to unite and end the division to take serious steps to end the tragedy of the prisoners.

The protestors marched through the streets of Nablus amid calls to go to Hawara military checkpoint south of the city, while clashes took place between students from Birzeit University and Israeli soldiers at the entrance to the northern city of Ramallah after they came out in solidarity with the captive Sayeh.

Across Al Jazeera, Sheikh Khader Adnan, a leader of the Islamic Jihad and the liberated prisoner, conveyed his message of the necessity of movement of the so-called "elites" and cadres from all Palestinian factions and leaders and to take to the street and face direct confrontation with the occupation at the points of contact and military checkpoints, and called on those leaders not to continue "obstructing the role of the street And wasting his effort. "

Adnan considered that the "weak" exit of the street is an announcement of the martyrdom of another prisoner soon Sami Abu Diak, and called on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to act "the size of the Israeli crime" and the mobilization of Palestinian movement and diplomatic bases to respond to the arrogance of the occupation.

He also called for activating the role of Palestinian consuls and ambassadors in the world to serve the cause of prisoners and to bring their suffering, accusing some of those diplomats of great negligence and "not hearing Bassam Sayeh or his fellow prisoners."

Samer Samaru, director of the Prisoners' Affairs Office in Nablus, said that this activity is insufficient compared to the scale of the attacks on prisoners. He said that the claims should come to ring the bell of international organizations such as the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross, Amnesty International and others and to know what is really happening in the prisons of the occupation.

He told Al-Jazeera Net that the occupation did not respond to the demands made by the release of the prisoner Bassam Sayeh despite his "deadly" illness, because the right "absent" in these courts and international institutions because of force.

The prisoner Bassam Sayeh, 46, died in the Israeli hospital "Asaf Harofe" after days of "serious and significant" deterioration in his health due to the penetration of cancer in his body and the accumulation of fluid on his lung significantly, which led to a sharp decline in the work of the heart muscle to about 15% .

Don't actually move
Fouad al-Khuffash, director of the Ahrar Center for the Study of Prisoners and Human Rights, attributed Israel's intransigence to the release of Sayeh and sick prisoners, despite the seriousness of their health situation in the policy of Israel, which has never released any of them whose hands are "stained with the blood of Israelis."

Al-Khafash told Al-Jazeera Net that Israel not only refuses to release the sick prisoners, but also holds their bodies even after they were martyred, as it did with the prisoner Fares Baroud, who was martyred after 26 years of detention and is still holding his body "as a punishment for him and his family."

Al-Khuffash ruled out any official Palestinian movement through diplomats, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry or even the leadership to submit any international demand or complaint to the concerned bodies in the international human rights and legal institutions to release the prisoners.

Internally, Al-Khuffash considered that the movement has recently been confined to condemnation and denunciation, and that this does not put pressure on Israel and does not make it feel fear and respond to the demands of the release of prisoners. He said that the division and the absence of factions in general and Hamas in particular from the street in the West Bank made the occupation reassuring Deterred.

He added that Israel's response to any pressure would release the prisoners or even come up with events amounting to a major event such as the martyrdom of the Sayeh prisoner, who is described as the bomber of the Jerusalem gift in October 2015 by being behind the "Itamar" operation east of Nablus and killing settlers.

The demonstrators and speakers agreed that there is no way to yield to the occupation only by direct confrontation with him at the points of contact and revolutionize the Palestinian street with all its components, popularly and politically, against it, and to follow these events on the ground Palestinian diplomatic action at the global level.
