On the eve of the resumption of the work in the Assembly, 85 parliamentarians of the majority LREM-MoDem launched Monday a call to denounce the violence against the elected, which reached according to them, a level "unbearable" this summer.
While violence against elected officials culminated in the death in early August of the mayor of Signes (Var) in the performance of his duties, deputies and senators signatories believe that "a threshold of alert is reached when intimidation takes the step on the deliberation of the regulation or the law ", in a tribune transmitted to the press.
"It has become commonplace to accuse elected representatives, local and national, of all evils, at the risk of questioning the effectiveness of our democracy," say those elected officials, while threats and degradations of permanences targeting deputies of the majority also succeeded each other during the summer.
"At the dawn of a new municipal campaign, it is important to reaffirm loudly our defense of the figure of the elected local in general, and that of the mayor in particular," they say in this call entitled "Touche not to my mayor! " and initiated by LREM deputies François Jolivet and Aude Bono-Vandorme.
They put forward the draft law "Commitment and proximity" expected in the fall to facilitate the exercise of the mayor's mandate, saying that it "must regain its role of decision-maker", "condition of its credibility and the lowering of the center of gravity of the public action closer to the field ".
Among the signatories are MPs LREM Barbara Pompili, Stéphane Travert and Bruno Studer, the elected MoDem Sarah El Haïry, or Senator LREM Didier Rambaud.
