Venezuelan justice has opened an investigation against Juan Guaido for wanting to "deliver" to multinationals a territory of Guyana claimed by Caracas. This new case, which the Attorney General has described as "high treason", adds to many actions against the main opponent of President Nicolas Maduro.

Juan Guaido, the main opponent of power who has proclaimed himself interim president with the support of some fifty countries, is again the subject of Venezuelan justice action against him. He is suspected of having wanted to "deliver" to multinationals Esequibo, a territory particularly rich in minerals that is in Guyana and claimed Venezuela. Charges that are based on a vocal message leaked by the Chavis government in which a person identified as a US administration official communicates with an "outside counselor" of Juan Guaido.

Attorney General Tarek William Saab, deemed close to the Chavist power, described these facts in a televised speech " high treason crime ". Juan Guaido immediately responded to this intervention by the Attorney General by speaking of "parody". In a speech to Puerto La Cruz in eastern Venezuela, Juan Guaido commented on the new case as " to distract attention from what is really important, " namely the presence of Colombian armed groups. Several investigations have already been launched against Juan Guaido.
