Annelie Grip Hansson is county veterinarian in Västerbotten. She has noticed concerns that are spreading among dog owners and noted that competitions and dog meetings are canceled.

She believes that dog owners should not worry about this at this time.

- First of all, it doesn't seem to be an infectious epidemic, it's not something that spreads like wildfire. In Norway, two bacteria have been identified in the gut, but you do not know more than that.

"Needless to go to Norway"

What to do or think as a dog owner?

- It is very unnecessary to go to Norway at a dog show before you know what it is about. But dogs tend to bite both one and the other in normal cases, which can cause diarrhea and vomiting.

- If you have a dog that is ill, you do not need it among other dogs. And if the dog is ill you should contact your veterinarian.

Dog owners should live as usual, says Grip Hansson.

- The precautionary principle is good if you are worried, but be calm in the boat, she says.
