The Land Survey believes that the name is abusive and does not meet the requirements for a "nurtured place name condition". The name was highlighted in connection with a previous case of similar place names in Dalarna.

- This was the only remaining, map-reported place name with the word negro that we can decide on, says section manager Mattias Johansson.

No doubt the name should disappear from the map

According to the law, there are requirements for the preserved place name condition while maintaining an existing name as claimed, as far as possible.

The Land Survey finds that the current name does not meet the requirement to belong to a preserved place name condition and that, although names are supposed to be preserved as far as possible, there is no doubt that it is perceived as offensive and derogatory and should therefore disappear from the map.

The decision on the name change can be appealed to the government.
