Police following the assault on suspected elderly offenders: "We took them with our fingers in the jam jar"

The people were about to deceive an elderly couple in Sala when they were revealed and could be arrested.

"We had to act when they contacted the target owner, we took them with our fingers in the jam jar," says Björn Sidenhjärta of the Västmanland Police Department.

After a brief investigation, the police were able to intervene against the suspects resident in Västerås, after they tried to deceive a couple of 90s living in Sala.

- We were about 300 meters from this apartment where we knew the landlord was called from. So it became a quick jump march for us before we could deal with those who were in the apartment. We were then able to secure the phones they used to call the target owners, ”says Björn Sidenhjärta of the Västmanland Police Fraud Unit.

Two of the five persons arrested have been released on the grounds that there is no longer a risk that they could remove evidence or otherwise destroy the criminal investigation.

- Then they can be several people who have helped to deceive the elderly by visiting them in conjunction with the conversations, but that the continued investigation shows, says Björn Sidenhjärta.
