While traveling in Brazil, the leader of the Insoumis condemned on Twitter the words of the Brazilian Minister of Economy, who attacked the physique of the First Lady.

Despite their political differences, Jean-Luc Mélenchon was keen to show his solidarity with Brigitte Macron. While traveling to Brazil, where he visited former president Lula, imprisoned for corruption, the leader of the Insoumis assured that the "Brazilians are outraged by the rudeness of their leaders", after new insults made to against the First Lady, this time by the Brazilian Minister of the Economy.
