It was at half past seven on Thursday evening that Eric Johansson left the hunting team in Aijärova outside Vittangi to head home to his home in Vittangi. It was raining and maybe that was why Eric didn't hear the bear obliquely behind him.

- I just went there and suddenly there was a bear that had my arm in his mouth, says Eric Johansson from the hospital bed in Gällivare where he was taken.

Do not remember

He did not remember how Eric managed to get away from the bear.

- I knew it was going so fast but I had a meter distance so I could shoot. Could not aim so I just shot everywhere in pure panic.

But even though Eric managed to shoot the bear, it attacked again.

- And then it went against both my legs, but it probably didn't have as much force left and then it collapsed.

Called his dad

Eric managed to call his dad and took the 800 meters to a major road where his dad picked him up. 45 minutes later, the ambulance that drove Eric to Gällivare hospital arrived, where he is now being cared for for his injuries.

- The legs have gone off just below the wrist so I have been operated on tonight and today I will have surgery again. In the legs I have tooth bites but they are not so deep, says Eric Johansson from the hospital bed.

How are you today?

- I just woke up and what I was involved with probably did not sink in, it will probably take a while to melt.
