The Department of Community Development - Abu Dhabi has identified six main tasks of the Youth Social Council, which include providing an incubating environment for innovative and developmental youth ideas, activating the role of youth in social sector institutions, adopting initiatives and projects related to youth concerns and experiences, and promoting concepts and values of youth empowerment, talent development and encouragement of values. Providing a sustainable platform for communication with social decision-makers, as well as contributing to the support of the national youth agenda, the vision of the state in all its orientations, and the dissemination of a culture of social work.
In particular, the Department reported that the Social Youth Council is the first of its kind in the country and aims to create a youth platform where best practices will be presented, discussing the most important issues related to youth, their aspirations and the challenges they face, to come up with practical solutions and innovative ideas.
Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, told Emirates Today that the Youth Social Council will be a link between social entities and youth councils to limit youth initiatives and needs in social sector institutions and create a work system that includes initiatives and projects related to youth and youth involvement In addition to cooperating with the private sector to implement special events for youth and to restrict training opportunities or grants for youth in these entities.
He pointed to the need for the Council to take specific initiatives with a clear impact on the employees of the social sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and all segments of the youth in the community, pointing out that the current generation of young people have many opportunities, to play a pivotal role to overcome the social challenges facing communities.
He explained that the youth have the potential to stimulate creativity and innovation in solving various societal issues, so that all ideas and proposals will be taken into account by the members of the Council throughout their membership, and work to convert the proposals into community initiatives and projects implemented by the youth, stressing that the UAE youth play a key role In the delivery of the voice of various segments of society, and because of their remarkable presence in all sectors of the work, in addition to forming the largest segment of society.
The Department of Community Development - Abu Dhabi said that the Social Sector Youth Council represents a pioneering step towards empowering youth and activating their role towards establishing strong social pillars that enhance the sector visions by creating an environment conducive to creativity, innovation and excellence. Strengthening it in the process of construction and development, noting the importance of transforming the initiatives and projects emanating from the Council into reality, benefiting all parties.
The Department stressed that the Youth Council reflects the trends of the social sector towards opening new horizons for young people, to contribute effectively in enhancing the lifestyle of society, by listening to their views, aspirations and aspirations, and to identify the various challenges facing them, noting that during the last quarter of this year and the beginning of next year Youth initiatives will be launched related to community and sports activities that have emerged from youth needs.
