The Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has set three general conditions for increasing school fees: a school with an assessment (acceptable or lower) must present a plan that includes how it will invest in the educational process to improve the quality of education. They may not return to fees before restructuring, and the increase in school fees according to the framework applies to fees after restructuring, and if the school decides not to benefit from the increase in school fees granted, it cannot be carried forward for the following year or years.

This came in response to the complaints of students, about the addition of their children's school an excessive increase in tuition fees for the current academic year, especially the fees of books, stressing that the school showed them lists of different prices per class, whether in tuition fees or in the fees of books and uniforms School buses.

They told Emirates Today that the approved increase of the school, according to the updated framework of school fees, does not exceed 2.07%, because the school has maintained its assessment (acceptable) in the past two school years, but the increase reported by the school exceeds this ratio, adding that this indicates The school should adopt fees outside the prescribed rate.

The objective of setting a framework for controlling school fees is to protect the interests of students and their families, as well as provide a favorable environment for investors in the education sector and encourage them to improve the quality of education in the Emirate of Dubai by creating an integrated mechanism to apply school fees and study the educational and economic aspects, Protects the interests of all parties to the educational process: investors, students and their families.

The Commission noted that the development of the framework for controlling school fees was based on the decision of the Executive Council, in line with the strategic goals of the Authority and feedback from students and investors, and is effective from the current academic year.

The Authority stated that the application of the framework includes private schools that have an educational services permit in the Emirate of Dubai, which has completed three years, starting from the date of operation, and does not apply to schools that do not charge school fees. She explained that school fees for schools eligible for an increase, provided by the school (bus fees, books, uniforms), are subject to the provisions of this framework, while other fees such as the activities developed and services provided by a third party outside the school, these fees must be optional For parents of students, and subject to the regulation and control of other government agencies.

The Commission explained the mechanism for calculating the prescribed increase in school fees, that the non-profit school is approved by the percentage proposed to increase fees, provided that the following factors are available: Approval of the school board of trustees and adoption of the proposed percentage, and the participation of parents of students for the proposed ratio and approved by the representative of the Council of Student Parents The for-profit school, which was first rated by the SAI, is eligible to increase its fees at the cost of education index.
