At the same time, he called cowards those who are trying to fight the monuments.

“Monuments cannot be protected,” said the Czech leader.

He also recalled that on May 9, 1945, it was the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front under the command of Konev that crushed the resistance of those who refused to surrender to the fascist units in Prague.

Earlier, in the area of ​​Prague 6, scaffolding around the monument to Konev was removed.

On August 22, unidentified persons desecrated the monument, writing an insult on it with paint.

Subsequently, the district administration in Prague decided to close the monument with tarpaulin and forests.
