A gigantic gold colored skirt and Michaela Cisarikova Dance Company got to start this year's dance festival Abundance in Karlstad at lunchtime today.
The festival started in 2004 and has resurfaced every three years since then. It is now the sixth time it is being organized.
- We lift the dance for everyone and show a variety of dance styles. We received praise for our public at the last festival. We have taken care of that and spun on. The festival should be an inspiration for those who want to become a dancer and also those who just want to watch and enjoy, says Håkan Mayer, who is artistic director, in a press release.
For three days, dance performances, lectures and workshops will be offered at various locations around the city, including Stora Torget. In addition, there will be so-called site specifics on the Soltoget and in the Museum Park where the dance was created for that specific location.
It is Region Värmland that organizes the festival with the support of both the Cultural Council and Karlstad Municipality.
