On Sunday, an American tourist was robbed of a very exclusive watch outside the Grand Hôtel. Two men asked the American and his wife to take photos of them. When the American returned the cellphone, one of the men grabbed his arm and ripped off the clock. According to the robbed tourist, the watch is worth $ 250,000 (over SEK 2.4 million).

Hundreds of robberies in the Stockholm area

Last year, 79 clock robberies were committed in Stockholm city. So far this year (until September 3), 88 completed robberies and three robbery attempts have already taken place in the restricted area. For the entire Stockholm region, it is about 175 clock robberies.

On Wednesday, two arrested men were charged with suspicion of 15 robberies. They were arrested on August 6.

“We have high hopes of being able to tie them to several of these clock robberies committed in stairwells. Since the men were arrested, the number of robberies in stairwells has decreased significantly, even though we had a continued influx of other kinds of clock robberies, ”says Daniel Horner, the police's operations manager for the watch robbery operation, in a press release.

At the moment, a trial is also underway against two other men who are suspected of gross robbery of exclusive watches. They were arrested in June.
