SVT's European correspondent Christoffer Wendick has followed the debate on the ground in London. He says Britain cannot leave the EU without an agreement under the law passed by the House of Commons on Wednesday night.

- When this law is completed in a few days, Parliament will succeed in putting a sweater on its Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He must then ask the EU for more time - three more months.

He wants to make a new election. Why?

- He wants to win all voters who want to leave the EU and he thinks he can get enough members in Parliament so that it can be a majority for a hard Brexit or a Brexit without a deal.

How will he succeed?

- He will probably have to ask Parliament when they are done with the vote. He is ready to go for election on October 15.
