Miguel Ángel Revilla was waiting restlessly on the sidewalk in front of the El Desván bar, on Bonifaz street, in the center of Santander. His guest, Pedro Sánchez, was delayed a few minutes from the scheduled time they had left for lunch. Both had cited for a "working" meeting to follow up on the pact by which the Cantabria Regionalist Party (PRC) supports Sánchez's investiture in exchange for the commitment of a series of infrastructure for the autonomous community.

Around 14.30 the delegation arrived and Revilla approaches the acting president's car. He hugs him and invites him to enter the restaurant. But just before entering, someone is clearly heard shouting "son of a bitch" to Sanchez. He is an employee of a nearby bar.

Revilla, annoyed, asks the socialist leader to enter the restaurant while he retraces his steps, goes to the man, who is wearing an apron, and is abused by the insult. First, in a measured tone - "we must not insult, we must not disrespect" - but then loudly: "I am ashamed, a Cantabrian cannot say that!"

After the altercation, Revilla enters the restaurant's booth, where Pedro Sánchez is waiting for him. The photographers who went to the booth have been able to hear both politicians talk about what happened.

The Cantabrian president has paid for lunch. About 40 euros for both of them, who have tasted Galizano tomato, Russian salad, Trasmiera carico, Roman hake and country cream, according to Europa Press.

After the altercation, and questions from journalists, Revilla has that perhaps he should not have acted as he has done, but he has blamed his reaction that he has "bothered" what he has seen and heard and, also, that he has " temperament ", although, has specified in this regard, it does not usually occur.

"I do not tolerate it," added Revilla, for whom you can "disagree" and "everything" in addition, but "never insult." "I have been outraged and gone for him," he has justified himself. The leader of the PRC does not know if the man who has uttered the insult to Sánchez is the owner of a cafeteria located on the same street of the restaurant where they have eaten, but has assured that he will go to the bar this Thursday and take him "by band", because he considers insulting "intolerable."

"I was pissed off," Revilla has apologized that, "excited" before the media, he recalled that he is in charge of 'selling' a "cozy" and "friendly" Cantabria throughout Spain, in which he receives and " Respect "everyone and not insult" anyone. "

"I have never insulted anyone. I am not going to consent that in my land an uncle leaves that way to insult the president of the Government," said the Cantabrian president.
