298 deputies voted for the election with the required 434, 56 opposed.

Johnson then stated that Labor leader Jeremy Corbin was the first opposition leader to turn down the election. According to the Prime Minister of Britain, this is due to the fact that Corbin is not sure of his victory in the elections.

He also hinted that the British government will again try to propose an early election.

Johnson previously proposed holding early parliamentary elections on October 15.
