Qatar unveiled Tuesday the logo for the 2022 World Cup soccer, projecting simultaneously on several facades of buildings in Doha, but also in other major cities in the world such as New York, London or Paris.

The design takes the silhouette of the famous trophy that goes to the winner of the World Cup, embodied by a traditional scarf of the emirate.

According to the FIFA website: "The undulations of the emblem refer to the dunes of sand deserts so characteristic of the host country, while its shape is both that of the number eight, like the number of magnificent enclosures that will host the competition and the symbol of infinity, which highlights the innumerable interconnections that involve competition. "

The words "FIFA WORLD CUP Qatar 2022", written in an Arabian font specially created for the occasion, accompany the logo.

The symbol was projected on some iconic buildings of Qatar in front of hundreds of people, at 20:22 local time, schedule showing the figures of the year 2022.

Other cities around the world have also announced their participation by unveiling the logo on some of their buildings, such as Times Square in New York, Leicester Square in London, Paris, Moscow and Johannesburg.
