The Elysee and Matignon "rack their brains over how to save time" on pension reform, said Tuesday MP Christian Jacob, favorite in the race for the presidency of LR.

"I'm waiting to see the copy," he said on France Inter, criticizing "the very evolving positions of the President of the Republic" in this file.

"We'll see if one day we have a text on the table with very specific proposals, but I rather feel that we dig our heads at the Elysee and Matignon to find out how we save time", he accused.

After 18 months of discussions on the future "universal system" of retirement with the high commissioner Jean-Paul Delevoye, the social partners are expected Thursday and Friday in Matignon for a new round of consultation, against a background of government cacophony and rumors of reshuffle with a possible entrance of Mr. Delevoye to the government.

Emmanuel Macron's national consultation also made him fear that "it would actually save time and say that the reform will be for later," he said, noting that the minister of Public Accounts Gérald Darmanin estimated at the end of August that it could last nearly one year.

The vote of the reform would then be postponed beyond the municipal elections of March 2020.

Edouard Philippe then assured that the pension reform bill would be examined in Parliament "in the coming months".

On the merits, Emmanuel Macron said at the end of August his preference for a calculation of pension rights related to the duration of contribution rather than the age of departure, before the government spokesman Sibeth Ndiaye emphasizes that " the idea of pivotal age "is not" buried ".

In this context, the day after his political return in a scattered order, the right converged on Monday to fuel a trial in "standstill" against Emmanuel Macron, who "does not do a quarter of what it would take to straighten the country ".
