October 30, 2018 At 7.41 Norcia stopped, gathered in a moment of reflection and prayer in Piazza San Benedetto, to remember October 30th two years ago when a 6.5 magnitude quake shocked the city and the Valnerina Umbra.It was the Benedictine monks who led recollection with their songs in the pouring rain. The prior Father Benedetto Nivakoff and the entire religious community, together with the mayor Nicola Alemanno, the president of the Umbria region, Catiuscia Marini, the vicar general of the Spoleto-Norcia diocese, Msgr. Luigi Piccioli and some citizens who wanted to be present at the touching moment, gathered under the statue of the saint, in front of the caged facade of the Basilica.
