The former head of France Télévisions, Patrick de Carolis, announced Tuesday on social networks his candidacy, without a label, the next municipal elections in Arles (Bouches-du-Rhone).

On his Facebook page, the former journalist posted a poster on Tuesday with his photo inviting him to follow "the news of his campaign" for the municipal of 2020 on his official page.

"Born in Arles in 1953, I chose, after a long career as a journalist, then president of France-Télévisions, to build a future in Arles, deeply attached to my city, I chose to serve the Arlésiennes and Arlesians, "he writes. From his childhood in Arles, Patrick de Carolis said he kept "the taste of social interbreeding and humanistic values".

Patrick de Carolis seeks the succession of the communist mayor Hervé Schiavetti, who after three terms, chose not to represent.

In an article of the World published Tuesday night on the internet, Patrick de Carolis assures to wish "neither label nor investiture" but to be "open to all the supports, of right, left and center".

The former journalist, who chaired the public audiovisual group from 2005 to 2010, moved into the third commune of the department (52,800 inhabitants) which he was born a few months ago, the newspaper said.

Three candidates officially declared their wish to conquer the mayor: the departmental and deputy mayor of Arles, Nicolas Koukas (PCF), the ex-socialist David Grzyb, also a deputy in the municipal majority, and the regional councilor LR Cyril Juglaret. LREM MP, Monica Michel, for her part announced that she was seeking the investiture of his party.

Patrick de Carolis was sentenced in April by the Paris Court of Appeal to five months in prison suspended and 25,000 euros in fine for having contracted favoritism in the Bygmalion case.
