The government will mobilize five million euros to create, from 1 January 2020, a thousand new accommodation and emergency housing for women victims of domestic violence, announced Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, Tuesday, September 3 , as part of the opening of the "Grenelle" dedicated to the fight against this violence.

These places, which will be added to the existing 5,000, will be divided into 250 places "in emergency accommodation centers, to ensure immediate security", and 750 places of "temporary housing", for periods between six months and one year, said the head of government.

He opened these discussions in front of some 80 guests - community leaders, field workers, police officers, gendarmes, magistrates and lawyers - and more than ten government members, including Marlène Schiappa (Equality between men and women), Nicole Belloubet (Justice) and Christophe Castaner. (Interior), who should lead "workshops" on the prevention of violence, the "shelter and accompaniment" of victims, or the "punishment" of violent perpetrators.
