Volodin's statement was published by the State Duma press service.

According to him, the decisive role of Russia in World War II is recognized by all the peoples of the world, including the United States and Great Britain.

“In deciding to downplay the role of the USSR and Russia in World War II, the Polish leadership shows its inferiority by politicizing the outcome of the war and trying to erase historical memory,” he said.

The State Duma speaker added that the actions of the Polish authorities offend the memory of more than 600 thousand soldiers and officers who died for the liberation of Poland. He called for this to be remembered, "no matter what parties and presidents come to power."

Earlier in Poland, it was stated that Russia was not invited to events marking the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War, as they consider its position inappropriate to “historical truth”
