Hurricane Dorian devastates the Abaco Islands in northwestern Bahamas

Dorian, category 5, the maximum on the Saffir Simpson scale, made landfall in the Bahamas this Sunday and hits the Abaco Islands, in the northwest of the Caribbean archipelago, which suffers the most dangerous cyclone of hurricane season and one of the worst in the history of the Atlantic archipelago.

The cyclone is expected to head towards the Bahamas in the next few hours before reaching the US east coast, so its effects will continue to be felt in the Bahamas for hours.

The cyclone strikes with maximum sustained winds of 295 kilometers per hour, but its movement is only 7 kilometers per hour.

Andres said he arrived in the Bahamas with his charity and that he has kitchens ready to work in the planned shelters once Dorian made landfall in the Abaco Islands, territory in which he caused great destruction.

Andrés says in the video about 130 kilometers away from the eye of the category 5 hurricane .

"Pray all for Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama," says Andres with the storm in the background and completely soaked with water.

Andrés clarified that he and the members of his "World Central Kitchen" organization were close to the storm but safe and that they will meet with local authorities to help coordinate the food response to the victims.
