“In honor of the 150th anniversary of the city of Ilovaisk, in order to perpetuate the memory of those who died in the defense of the Donetsk People’s Republic, for the courage, steadfastness and mass heroism shown by the defenders of the city of Ilovaisk in the struggle for freedom and independence of the republic, by decree of the head of the DPR No. 279 of 08/31/19 of the year - the city of Ilovaisk was awarded the honorary title of the Donetsk People’s Republic “Cities of Military Glory,” Zhukova noted.
The agency clarifies that the administration of Ilovaysk is subordinate to the city hall of Khartsyzsk.
In August 2017, the title “City of Military Glory” was awarded to Gorlovka.
In August 2014, fierce battles for Ilovaisk unfolded in the Donbass. In Kiev, they hoped to take the village to the Independence Day of the country - August 24. It was not possible to do this, and in the next two days a group of volunteer battalions was surrounded.
