The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced that UAE nationals can hold diplomatic, private and ordinary passports to travel to Paraguay without the need for a prior visa.The exemption decision came into effect on August 16, 2019.

This comes on the basis of the mutual visa exemption agreement between the governments of the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Paraguay, which was signed on 24 September 2018, by His Excellency Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Luis Alberto Castiglione, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay. Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said that the entry into force of the decision allows the holders of the UAE passports to enter the territory of the Republic of Paraguay without a visa and without a fee with the possibility to stay for a maximum of 90 days per visit.

He pointed out that the entry into force of the agreement reflects the strong relations between the UAE and the Republic of Paraguay, which was built on the spirit of mutual understanding and respect and the desire to develop this relationship to reflect the ambitions and directions of the leaderships of the two countries and serve common goals and interests. Trade, investment and other cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Paraguay is strengthened.

Al Mazrouei added that providing consular services to delight UAE nationals is one of the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in accordance with the guidance of the wise leadership to provide all means of care and happiness to UAE nationals around the world.

It is worth mentioning that this agreement fully facilitated the entry of UAE nationals with visa-free passports, contrary to the entry system in force in the Republic of Paraguay since February 22, 2018, which was required to obtain a visa upon arrival at a fee of US $ 100.
