Gilles Le Gendre, patron of the LREM deputies, is hostile to any sanction of the majority against Cédric Villani, whose dissident candidacy to municipal in Paris is tipped against the candidate invested Benjamin Griveaux, he said Sunday on BFMTV.

"I want the victory of Benjamin Griveaux, and it will necessarily go through a rally. (...) If we want to think about the rally, the best way to prepare it is certainly not to create divisions by sanctions and divisions "said Le Gendre, himself elected from Paris.

This is why, he says, "I am against any form of exclusion or sanction vis-à-vis Cédric Villani or vis-à-vis its possible support".

Villani said he announced Wednesday his "intentions" for the municipal Paris, in this case a dissenting candidacy, or his rally to that of Benjamin Griveaux. Several media have announced in recent days, without being denied, the decision of Cédric Villani to be a candidate.

Gaspard Gantzer, independent candidate for mayor of Paris who met these days Cédric Villani, also judged Sunday "not very clear" the political position of the mathematician and MP for Essonne.

"On the merits," continued Gaspard Gantzer, "I did not feel what was the main focus of his campaign at this stage, and with whom he wanted to build a majority."
