The Saudi Transport Authority has announced that it is working on a new project related to the localization of jobs in the sector. Work on applications for delivery of restaurants «Delivery» will be limited to young men and women only.
Fawaz al-Sahli, vice president of the Saudi Public Transport Authority, said in a statement on Sunday that «the concerned authorities are working on the preparation of legislative regulations to localize work on applications for the delivery of applications from restaurants and others», expecting «the completion of those laws soon».
Al-Sahli said that «work in those applications will be limited to Saudis only, when the completion of the regulations on the sector».
Food delivery applications are very popular in Saudi Arabia's major cities, where residents of the Kingdom are resorting to a variety of meals to reach their homes or workplaces, while the various restaurants in the Kingdom compete for presentations in these applications to attract a new type of customers.
The sector is currently dominated by expatriates of various nationalities.
Saudi Arabia has limited work on passenger delivery applications to Saudis only, attracting thousands of Saudis before their female citizens join them after lifting the ban on driving a year ago.
