In May, the municipality of Uppsala signed a new agreement with transport service providers, daily operations and school transfers.

In the procurement, the municipality placed particularly high demands on environmental adaptation and safety for travelers.

According to Rickard Malmström (MP), chairman of the Gatu- and community environment committee in Uppsala municipality, the problems that have now arisen are that the municipality has hired an actor who does not live up to his assignment.

- The situation is distressing. We try to solve the problem as best we can with the help of other actors.

Why does not the operator that the municipality has hired up to live up to the requirements?

- Lack of capacity. It's about a company that doesn't have enough cars.

What is the municipality doing to make demands on the operator?

- We have been promised that they would have vehicles that would roll, which they do not have. They must be held accountable.

What should the people who depend on transport services do?

- I think those affected should demand that the municipality solve the problem.

But don't you feel a responsibility?

- Well, of course I do, we have the responsibility towards the citizens. It is a disastrous situation, says Rickard Malmström (MP).

The school shooting in Uppsala has also suffered from similar problems. This is because the assignment for school transfer and travel service has been coordinated as a result of the new contract.
