A new hiking trail has been opened adjacent to Fylleån at Björkelund outside Halmstad. On site were Halland's governor Lena Sommestad. The idea is that the trail will give you an education in taking care of nature.

- It will be a course in environmental considerations, says Karin Malm, forest consultant at the Swedish Forest Agency.

Want to protect from damage to watercourses

The hiking trail has been named Water's values. Along the trail, the board has set up new signs with information on, among other things, leaving trees standing next to watercourses during harvesting, about Fylleån's rich bottom fauna and about the unique salmon trunk.

- If you read all the pictures, the hope is that you will learn what consideration to take on land so as not to cause damage in the water.

Man's behavior affects the water

The Forest Board wants to show how the water and the soil interact with each other. What you do on land affects what happens in water.

- In a larger perspective, it is about how important it is to safeguard our waterways in the forest landscape. We want to raise our knowledge and raise awareness of the importance of taking care of the water.
