The current World Championship leader, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) of Great Britain, was violently out on Saturday in the third free practice session of the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix, but without any damage to him.

The session was interrupted for fifteen minutes to clear the car of the five-time world champion.

Hamilton lost control of his Mercedes on the vibrators in the curves of Fagnes and sent it into the wall of tires lining the track. He returned to the booth in the medical car, but was not injured in the accident. His car, on the other hand, suffered with all the left front part torn off.

This free practice session which, in principle, lasted an hour, then resumed with the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) credited with the best time ahead of his German teammate Sebastian Vettel just minutes from the end.

The qualifying session should be held from 15:00 and the GP on Sunday.
