Emirates Today met with team members in one of the desert areas in Umm Al Quwain, where the team presented its equipment and some vehicles used in marine, air and land rescue operations, most notably diving and towing vehicles on the road, fuel filling equipment for vehicles, and equipment to protect vehicles from valleys and floods .

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, told Emirates Today during his visit to the UAE rescue team that he fully supports the team, which is the first rescue team in the country.

Team leader and founder Ali al-Shammari said the team finally recorded a new response time to reach a report in less than two minutes, where a driver whose vehicle was stopped was stuck because of tires being sown in the sand, near a desert area in Umm al-Quwain.

He added that the team was able to reach the place of communication in record time, due to the deployment of its members in all cities of the State, and the number of 500 members equipped with the latest vehicles and rescue equipment, land, sea and air.

He explained that although the members of the team do not have the authority to cut red signals or walk along the road, they can reach the place of the communication, whether in remote desert areas or rugged mountains, valleys and marine areas, at high speed, so that the members have sufficient experience and readiness Fully handle cases as quickly as possible, to protect the safety of affected people.

He pointed out that the speed of access to the report depends on its location and proximity to the savior available in the place, pointing out that in some cases the team finds it difficult to access the communications received through the smart application «save Emirates», during the official working time, as all members of the team in Their duty stations are in state institutions, which leaves the job to the competent authorities in the state.

He added that some of the communications were in very remote desert areas and took a long time to reach them, especially if the author lacked any communication equipment to communicate with him, which complicates the issue of timely access to him as a result of his search and location by the team. A number of vehicles are sent for attribution, in those cases, to reach the place as quickly as possible.

He pointed out that one of the funniest reports received by the team, vehicles had tires in sandy parking inside homes and in front of residential buildings under construction, where the moment of arrival of the team shows that the driver does not have enough experience in driving his vehicle properly, and that the tires of his vehicle was not fully sanded However, he believed that he was unable to move it, which costs the team time and effort in regular communications, but nevertheless the team does not distinguish between communications and responds to all of them as emergency communications.

He pointed out that the most important reports of the utmost importance, those arriving from the elderly, and cases of deterioration of vehicles, entering amid torrents and valleys, and cases of drowning and fire.

He added that each member of the team has more than one vehicle equipped with the latest rescue equipment, and is intended to enter the very rough areas in the valleys and mountains and sand dunes and the Empty Quarter, coastal marine areas and mud areas, as well as equipment for diving and marine rescue, gliders and cruisers.

Al-Shammari added that the team has been in contact with the police in the country, in order to help those stranded in the desert and off-road, and to rescue those affected by road accidents and drowning. He noted that the team had previously participated in the search for the missing by land using four-wheel motorcycles, by air using paragliding, and by sea using cruisers, until his body was found at sea and recovered.

He explained that all rescue equipment owned by the team from the personal accounts of the team members, and that the loss of any vehicle during the rescue operations are borne by the members, where the team does not receive any financial support, pointing out that some owners of companies give the team a discount on four-wheel equipment in support of him, and sometimes at a price Cost.

He explained that the team pays more than 800 thousand dirhams for the renewal of wireless communication fees for members rescued in the desert areas, at a rate of fees up to 1600 dirhams per year per member.
