US Open: Fiona Ferro eliminated in the third round, more French in the running

Fionna Ferro (74th) was eliminated Friday in the 3rd round of the US Open by the Chinese Qiang Wang (18th) 7-6 (7/1), 6-3, and there is more French in the running to Flushing Meadows.

The last chance tricolor now rests on the shoulders of Gael Monfils (13th), qualified for the third round of the men's draw.

Ferro, 22, qualified for her first third Grand Slam round by eliminating compatriot Kristina Mladenovic in the previous round.
