Two other pro-democracy parliamentarians were arrested late Friday in Hong Kong, said their party Civic Passion, bringing to 3 the number of deputies arrested in an attempt, according to associations, to muzzle the opposition after the ban on a big event Saturday.
Arrested for obstruction of police
Nok-hin and Jeremy Tam were arrested for obstructing the police, the party said on its Facebook page. Earlier Friday, and for the first time since the beginning of the mobilization in June, a deputy, Cheng Chung-tai, had also been arrested, according to his Civic Passion party. The semi-autonomous region has been experiencing its worst crisis for nearly three months since its return to China in 1997, with almost daily demonstrations and actions that have sometimes degenerated.
