Christian Rimppi, manager of the Jokkmokk general, thinks it is upsetting that the group is in breach of the public right which says that the landowner must have permission to camp in large groups. He himself has been on several occasions to talk to the participants and tell them that they are there illegally.

- They themselves think it is sad that they have not talked to us before, but they still have not bothered to move, says Christian Rimppi.

Request for policy hand cover

Part of the handrail means that the landowners must submit their name, social security number and which country each person located on the site comes from.

- It is totally unreasonable, it is practically an impossibility, since there are hundreds of people who have been here illegally. I am also extremely doubtful that I have the power to do so, says Christian Rimppi.

If there had been another type of group gathered here, do you think it would have had other consequences then?

- I definitely think so and that's a very interesting aspect of it all, he says.

Refused to move

The Jokkmokk community has arranged a place where they are allowed to camp, but they have not wanted to move and said that they do not intend to leave the place until after August 28 when the lunar cycle is over. After that, many plan to move to Spain where the next Rainbow gathering is said to take place.

When SVT Nyheter Norrbotten visited the site on August 29, several had left but many were still present at the site.

- This has had bigger consequences than one could imagine. They violate the public right and that is problematic, says Christian Rimpii.

The participants have previously gathered and held an unauthorized manifestation of the forest in central Jokkmokk. The purpose of the gathering is to give love to the mountain.
