This was reported by TASS with reference to the State Security Committee of the republic. Moreover, the nature of the operation is not specified.

“In connection with the provocative actions of the Georgian side ... the forces and units of the Border Service of the KGB of South Ossetia launched a humanitarian operation in the vicinity of the Ossetian village of Uista (Tsnelis),” the statement said.

It is emphasized that the operation is exclusively peaceful in nature.

It is indicated that the department’s actions are aimed at maintaining the border regime, ensuring the safety of citizens and stabilizing the military-political situation in the region.

The press service of the President of South Ossetia noted that the action provides for "ensuring the safety of every villager."

Reportedly, the village’s surroundings are currently being monitored so that “residents do not experience tensions due to the unlawful post of the Georgian police.”

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern about the escalation of tension on the border of South Ossetia and Georgia.

As Russian diplomats noted, it was triggered by "the construction of a Georgian police post near the South Ossetian village of Tsnelis."

The department called on the parties for a constructive dialogue.
