Sweden's Radio Ekot reports on the situation. Some areas are more affected than others. Gothenburg and Södertälje, for example, but also in the Stockholm area and in Skåne, the pigs prefer to keep close to residential areas.

In the future, city boars are expected to become even more common.

- We can probably expect that. The wild boar is already found in many suburbs and will penetrate more and more. They will approach the cities and the settlements, says Petter Kjellander, professor of wildlife ecology at SLU, to Ekot.

According to Petter Kjellander, cooperation is needed to solve the problems. Hunters can shoot wild boar, but he calls for more homeowners to set up electric fencing around the garden, which is said to be the most effective way to keep the pigs away.
