As the relations between Japan and South Korea deteriorate, a meeting of ministers in charge of tourism by the three countries, including China in both countries, was held in South Korea, and active exchanges of tourism were promoted in the three countries by promoting exchanges among younger generations. I signed a joint declaration that I wanted to promote.

The meeting held in Incheon (Incheon), South Korea, was attended by Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ishii, Minister of Tourism in Korea and China, and signed a joint declaration.

According to it, we agreed that we achieved the goals of the three countries of Japan, China and Korea last year, which will have 30 million exchanges by 2020.

On top of that, we will collaborate in the three countries by attracting tourists from regions other than East Asia, such as Europe and the United States, and actively utilizing digital technology in the tourism industry, promoting exchanges among the younger generations of the three countries. Agreed to promote active tourism exchange.

In addition, the meeting of the Ministers of Tourism from the following three countries has also been decided to be held in Japan next year.

Prior to this meeting, Minister Ishii met with the South Korean Minister of Tourism individually and agreed that tourism exchange is important as a basis for mutual understanding.

After the meeting, Minister Ishii said, “It was very meaningful to agree that tourism exchanges based on trust are important, even though there are various issues between Japan and Korea.”
